SEARCH ENGINE TRAFFIC

3 Biggest Reasons Why People Fail To Get It

Problem #1 Dynamic Sites

This is the most common mistake made by even the largest companies. It is understandable that a site containing a large breadth of products or services would resort to using a database to serve up pages on the fly. They have so many products that creating a static page for each product category appears unrealistic to the web designer. Web designers are an efficient bunch and the more talented they are, the more dynamic a site becomes. The best web designers can do twice the work in half the time, which ultimately saves the client money, but the improper use of dynamic pages is a fatal error in achieving search engine ranking. It isn't the web designers' fault; they are artists, not marketers. Unfortunately, none of the spiders sent out by search engines can see dynamic pages, and all of that valuable and relevant product information buried in a database is completely unknown to them. The result is that a perfect, even extraordinary web site will never appear high in the search engine listings because the majority of their website is invisible to the spider. Solution: Build smart from the start. If you're going to use dynamic sites make sure that you devote entire domains with content that spiders can see. It is completely unrealistic to try and revamp your website once it is built. It will require a substantial investment and will take months of work.

Problem #2 Using Antiquated Techniques

The use of "Doorway Pages" is a common mistake and a serious hazard trap. While this technique was popular when search engines where still honing their algorithms, it is no more than an amateurs ruse nowadays, and certainly more of a liability than an asset. Today, the search engine spiders are calibrated to discover doorway pages and ignore them altogether. Search engines currently classify any kind of "cookie-cutter template" and incorrectly built pages as a work-around, which dilutes their ranking integrity. In fact, a submission that could have been worthy of a respectable ranking will suffer the fate of non-inclusion or de-listing upon routine revisits by the spiders. Never use this approach! Solution: Build smart from the start. Optimized search engine domains take a lot of work, but the long-term benefits are that you generate traffic the old fashioned way - you earn it. If you are going to be accessible to the largest number of people, you want multiple entries that are recognized favorably by the search engines - not penalized!

Problem #3 Improper Link Popularity

Everyone likes a shortcut. It saves time, but it really does cost you valuable ranking. A common misconception is that an extensive number of links will increase your popularity. Wrong! Cultivating links that are not properly built can not only cause a domain to be ignored but actually penalized. Today, search engines look for quality and integrity, not quantity. Additionally, it is very important to tightly control the text surrounding the links, as the new generations of search engine spiders are programmed to examine the source and surrounding text carefully. Solution: Manage your links like you would your business. Partner with reputable web sites and have control over the reference made about your site. Do not dilute the quality or integrity of your web site and the products you sell by being recommended by non-established sites that detract from your credibility.
